Saint Pius V School parents set a goal to:
"Increase the awareness of the parish regarding the Catholic Identity of the school by:
1. Promoting school Christian service projects within our parish and civic community.
2. Exploring ways to promote the school to the parish during Catholic Schools Week."
Since the parish school students are entering parish youth ministry (SPY) it would be ideal for a person from SPY to work on the school board specifically on this goal.
The committment involves a "committee chair" (SPY member) that works under the auspices of the school board. The "chair" would gather helpers from wherever he or she sees fit (the parish, the school parents, the students, etc.), and they would make a plan for accomplishing the goal.
The committment is for two years, with meetings at least quarterly. However, the school board is presently in formation and the chairperson will be working most closely with Mrs. Lewis (principal) and Mr. Ciccoianni (Vice Principal) for the better part of this year.
